In the fifth report, autographed photos of the Japanese women’s track and field team including Asa Dogura, men’s 100m finalist Takayoshi Yoshioka, and men’s 100m silver medalist Ralph Metcalfe (USA) were introduced. In addition, the commemorative plaque of triumphant return home given to gold medalist Masaji Kiyokawa who won men’s 100m backstroke, and the belts and badges worn by Ichiro Hatta, who participated in men’swrestling. A total of 16 Japanese female athletes, 9 in track and field and 7 in swimming,participated in this Olympic games, suggesting that competitive sports have become popular among women in Japan.
